Wolverley Court’s story begins around 1600 when it was built for the prominent Attwood family. This influential family left an indelible mark on the property, with remnants of their legacy still visible today. One of the most striking features is the Attwood coat of arms, beautifully preserved in stained glass on our first floor. When sunlight streams through this historical artwork, it creates a mesmerising display of colours, connecting our residents to the rich past of their home.
Architectural Evolution
While Wolverley Court has undergone changes over the centuries, much of its original character remains intact. The early 1820s saw significant refronting and remodelling, enhancing the building’s Georgian aesthetic. This period of renovation gifted us with one of our most treasured features: the grand original staircase. Adorned with intricately carved lions’ feet, this masterpiece of 19th-century French craftsmanship continues to impress residents and visitors alike.

In 2025, we undertook a significant restoration project, paying homage to the building’s heritage. This involved meticulously restoring the original chimneys and outer building, ensuring that the historical integrity of Wolverley Court was maintained. Inside, we’ve decorated with a tasteful nod to Georgian times, creating an atmosphere that is both elegant and comforting.
Natural Heritage
The grounds of Wolverley Court are just as historically significant as the building itself. Our preserved gardens boast protected trees, some of which date back to the time of the Attwood family, and others even further to the Roman era. This ancient greenery provides a serene and picturesque setting for our residents to enjoy, connecting them with nature and history simultaneously.
Community and Heritage
At Wolverley Court in Kidderminster, we believe in actively preserving and celebrating our heritage. We’re currently in discussions with the National Lottery Heritage Fund to explore future conservation and enhancement projects. One exciting initiative involves designing a flag for Wolverley Court in collaboration with our residents. This flag will be officially listed, further cementing our place in local history.
